Artist's Comments

My final project for my minor painting. We had to come up with our own concept and make 3 paintings.

My paintings are about how a lot of people now a days, use animals as accessories instead of treating them as real animals.
That's why I made pretty, fashion like portraits of people with an animal.

This one is done with acrylic paint and markers on canvas.
100x80cm

nowadays? they've been doing that since the beginning of time lol. Doesnt make it right...but it's true. Now people are starting to actually have sympathy for the animals, which is a good thing. Personally, I wouldn't want to go around wearing a fox carcass but there you go. But I really love your painting. It was the first one in my watch in-box and I was like "yep, need that one" :)

darling! i was almost beginning to get worried about you :P you've been gone for so long..

but now i see you return with these pictures.. and oh my oh my.. im really blown away. these are amazing! girl, you have so much talent and so much skill.. im actually getting quite jealous now :P

i really love these because they look so erm "professional".. or that you really worked on these. and your incredible personal style just glows from these paintings.. i'd imagine people in 200 years recognizing your paintings easily because they have all these characteristics that make it easy..

blablabla.. and of course i like the topic you chose for the series. very very true, i couldnt agree more.

anyway, darling, hope you're doing well :glomp:

Hmmm, I guess you're completely right, but it just bothers me that people actually put little dogs in a bag and carry them around because it's "hot". And then trow them away in the dogpound because after a while they find out dogs need food and shit a lot. They haven't been doing that since the beginning of time.

But I actually started these paintings after reading an article about genetically modified mice, who are sold in Asia. They glow in the dark when you put UV light on them.

Wow, thank you. All I can do is blush. :blushes:
I'm starting my internship next year, so I'll try to paint more and upload that on DA.

Love the concepts!

brilliant idea and wonderfully executed!

i think the emotion in the dog's face says it all here
:iconm-a-d-art:
they have genetically-modified everything in asia lol. I see where you're going with the purse-dog thing. Those rich people usually have servants or something who take care of their dogs I guess. In a pound, they might get adopted back out. In the middle ages, the Christians burnt cats because they thought they were demons. (And then guess what happened after there were no cats to kill certain flea-carrying rats lol). I'm not trying to say I'm taking their side whatsoever. Everybody with a purse-pet should probably be hit in the head as a law lol. Celebrities are idiots anyway. What I think is really a problem that all these celebrity women keep on wanting to get pregnant because "baby-bumps" are fashionable and also give them publicity. Then they have the kid and are all like "oh crap, I have to be a parent now?" And the kid just ends up growing up F-ed up. So now, in turn, teenagers want to have "baby bumps" too. Oh goodie. I have no idea why people follow fads that are obviously idiotic and downright wrong sometimes. And kudos to you to making some art to protest it. (And thank you for making good art to protest it as well lol)

well done!your style reminds me a bit of john currin!I love it!

haha I love how you drew the dog, it's like the dog in the beginning of the first episode from this show called "Paradise Kiss".
But anyway, I completely understand the concept here. It's very true, but it's hard to stop, animals have always been 'accessories', just like a pirate has a parrot on his shoulder.
Blahblahblah. :aww: Nice painting
